About Our Parish
A Century of Faith in the Heart of Manitoba
St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church is a vibrant, welcoming parish community rooted in the small but spirited town of Hadashville in southeastern Manitoba. For over a century, we have been a place of worship, fellowship, and service for Catholic families across the Whiteshell region and the surrounding rural municipalities.
Our parish draws its life from the Eucharist, its strength from prayer, and its direction from the Gospel. We are a community of diverse backgrounds and generations, united by a common faith and a shared call to love God and neighbour with our whole hearts.

Our Core Values
These values are not aspirational slogans — they are the lived commitments that guide how we worship, relate to one another, and serve the world around us.
Faith & Devotion
We are anchored in the sacramental life of the Catholic Church. The Eucharist is the source and summit of everything we are and do. We cultivate deep personal prayer and communal worship as the foundation of all parish activity.
Hospitality & Belonging
Every person who enters our parish is welcomed as a guest of Christ. We strive to create a community where no one is a stranger — where the lonely find friendship, the doubting find patience, and the searching find a home.
Integrity & Transparency
We are committed to honest, transparent leadership and stewardship. We honour the trust placed in us by our parishioners and the broader community by conducting all parish affairs with integrity and accountability.
Service & Compassion
Following the model of Christ the Servant, we place the needs of others at the centre of our parish life. We serve without counting the cost, and we accompany those who are suffering with patient, compassionate presence.
Formation & Growth
Discipleship is a lifelong journey. We are committed to providing meaningful formation opportunities for every stage of life, from the youngest child preparing for First Communion to the seasoned parishioner deepening their contemplative life.
Stewardship & Generosity
We believe that all we have is entrusted to us by God. We exercise careful stewardship of our parish resources, our environment, and our time and talents — and we give generously, as we have been generously given to.
What It Means to Belong to This Parish
Parish life at St. John the Baptist is rich, varied, and deeply human. We gather every Sunday for the celebration of the Eucharist — the central act around which everything else in our community is organized. But our parish life extends far beyond the liturgy itself, encompassing a full spectrum of programs, ministries, and relationships that form us as disciples and sustain us through every season of life.
A Multi-Generational Community
Our parish is blessed with a diversity of ages, backgrounds, and life experiences. Families with young children worship alongside lifelong parishioners who have been part of this community for decades. New families moving to the Hadashville area find a ready welcome and a network of support. Seniors who have given their lives to this parish continue to be honoured, visited, and cared for by the community they helped build.
This multi-generational character is one of our greatest strengths. It ensures continuity of tradition and the wisdom of lived experience, while also bringing freshness, energy, and new perspectives that keep our community vital and growing.
Rooted in Tradition, Open to Renewal
As a Roman Catholic parish, we cherish the great traditions of the universal Church — the Mass, the sacraments, the rosary, devotion to Mary and the saints, the rhythm of the liturgical year. These traditions are not relics of the past; they are living realities that continue to nourish and form us as disciples of Jesus Christ.
At the same time, we are a community open to the fresh movements of the Holy Spirit — to new approaches to evangelization, to creative expressions of worship, and to the ongoing renewal that the Church continually calls its members to embrace. We hold tradition and renewal together, recognizing that both are gifts of the same Spirit.
"You are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God." Ephesians 2:19
Our Commitment to the Region
St. John the Baptist Parish exists not only for its registered members but for the entire community of Hadashville and the surrounding region. We are committed to being a presence of faith, hope, and love that benefits everyone — regardless of religious affiliation — through our outreach programs, our pastoral availability, and our active participation in the social fabric of the community.
