Mission & Vision

Preparing the Way of the Lord

Our parish mission is grounded in Jesus Christ, nourished by the Eucharist, and expressed through worship, formation, and service.

Mission

Our Mission

To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, celebrate the sacraments with reverence, and build a community of faith where every person is welcomed, formed, and sent forth to bear witness to God's love.

We seek to nourish the spiritual life of parishioners through prayer, the Eucharist, faith formation, and works of charity rooted in the teaching of the Catholic Church.

Vision

Our Vision

To be a vibrant, Christ-centred parish in rural Manitoba: a beacon of hope and holiness where families grow in faith, the lonely find belonging, the searching find truth, and the whole community is drawn closer to the heart of God.

We envision a parish that prepares the way of the Lord in every generation, just as our patron saint did.

Core Values

The Character of Our Parish Life

Reverent Worship

The Mass is the source and summit of our life. We approach the liturgy with gratitude, silence, song, Scripture, and devotion to the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

Faithful Teaching

We hand on the Catholic faith with clarity and compassion, helping children, youth, adults, and families understand Scripture, tradition, prayer, and moral life.

Genuine Welcome

Hospitality is a Christian duty. We welcome parishioners, visitors, newcomers, and those returning to church with respect, patience, and a desire to walk together.

Prayerful Service

Christian service begins in prayer and becomes visible in care for the sick, the grieving, the homebound, the isolated, and neighbours facing difficulty.

Statement of Faith

One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic

St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church professes the faith of the Catholic Church. We believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ, true God and true man, died and rose for our salvation and remains present to his Church through Word, sacrament, and the life of grace.

We are united with the universal Church in the celebration of the seven sacraments. We honour the Blessed Virgin Mary and the saints as witnesses to holiness. We listen to Sacred Scripture, receive the Church's teaching, and seek to form consciences that can respond faithfully to God in daily life.

Our patron, St John the Baptist, reminds us that Christian life is not self-centred. Like him, we are called to prepare the way for Christ in our homes, parish, workplaces, and community.
